In solidarity with the Argentinean rebellion, subversive santas took to the streets of Cardiff armed with a football and a giant world globe.
There weren't exactly thousands pouring onto the streets but in it's own small way Cardiff expressed it's solidarity with the Argentinean rebellion. Subversive santas played football amidst the christmas shoppers and gave a bit of grief to a few multinational corporations.
The Santas were accompanied around town by an escort of police that outnumbered the protestors. Yet somehow those slippery Santas managed to get access to the town's brand new Nike store where they attached 'made in a sweatshop' labels to the clothes. They also got out of the rain and into MacDonalds where, to the amazement of police and punters alike, they played football with a giant world globe.
Despite the fact that stores had been warned by the constabulary to expect 'trouble', the day passed peacefully and with good humour. Even the police were relatively well behaved on the day - obviously they did not want to upset Santa for fear of losing out on their Christmas Stocking!
